JMT Tyres & Mechanical is built on a proud Adelaide legacy that began in the 1980s, when John Murphy - a Sturt Football Club icon and five‑time premiership player across ten seasons - opened John Murphy Tyres and Wheel Centre on Unley Road. 

For decades, John served the Unley and Parkside community, becoming known not just for his football achievements but for his loyalty, hard work, and genuine care for local customers. As the business grew, John rebranded the workshop to Bridgestone Unley, continuing to uphold the same trusted values.

After a lifetime of service, John retired at 76 years of age in June 2025, passing the torch to Claude and Rosanna Palumbo, who honoured his legacy by keeping his initials – JMT - and expanding the workshop into a full mechanical service centre. 

Claude, a qualified mechanic with over 30 years in the automotive industry, brings a personal passion for classic and vintage autos, having built numerous award‑winning cars over the years. Many of these awards are proudly displayed in the newly revamped reception area.

Today, JMT Tyres & Mechanical continues as a small, family‑run business dedicated to quality workmanship, genuine customer care, and preserving the legacy of the man who started it all.
